POONCH: The Prakash Purab of Shri Guru Nanak was on Friday celebrated with religious devotion and great reverence here at Gurudwara Singh Sabha Poonch.
After the accomplishment of Shri Akhand Path, the Gurbani Kirtan was recited by Satinderpal Singh from Punjab, Hoshiarpur and local Ragi Jathas, Bhai Harcharan Singh, Bupinder Singh and others.
Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet also paid obeisance at Gurdwara Singh Sabha Poonch and addressed the Sangat. He conveyed his greetings to the devotees on the Parkash Purab of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and also partake in Langer.
The President of Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Poonch, Narinder Singh threw light on the life and teachings of Guru Ji. He elaborated on the universal relevance of Teachings of Guru Ji and for leading a peaceful and spiritual life. Preacher, Bhai Ravinder Singh, Surjan Singh and others threw light on the life history of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and said that Shri Guru Granth Sahib is a sacred Granth which leads humanity in every aspect.
General Secretary S.Rajinder Singh conducted the proceedings of the programme.
After the Ardas, the Head Granthi of Singh Sahib read the sacred Hukamnama. He congratulated the people, especially Sikh community on this occasion.
REASI: General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College Reasi celebrated Guru Nanak Dev jayanti on Friday by organising Poster making Competition on the theme “Teachings of Guru Nanak Dev”. Event was organised by NCC units of the college as a part of “Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Gurpurab, is the most important festival for the followers of the religion of Sikhism. It is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev. The festival is celebrated on the day of Kartik Poornima, which is the fifteenth lunar day in the month of Kartik according to the Hindu calendar, and usually falls in the month of November by the Gregorian calendar. Many students participated in the event and made posters on the above mentioned theme. Sapna Bharadwaj of Sem third stood first in the event, second prize was bagged by Suhana Akhter of Sem first and Koushal Kumar of Sem third whereas third prize was bagged by Yashika Abrol. The event was organized by Dr. Anu Sharma, Nodal officer and Prof. Sunil Mangotra NCC officer under the noble guidance of Principal, Dr. Chander Shekhar Gupta, GGZSM College Reasi.
NOWSHERA: Nowshera Forest Range organised plantation drive on occasion of Gurupurab at Gurudwara Singh Sabha at Bhatta, Gurudwara Banda Singh Bahadur at Dhallian and Gurudwar Hargovind Singh (Chati badsahi) Nowshera in collaboration with District president Sardar Bhupinder Singh, president Gurdwara Prabandak committee Nowshera Sardar Satwinder Singh, Pardhan Capt. Kirpal Singh and other local people of the area. Approx. 200 fruit and medicinal plants were also distributed to devotees in said religious places. All dignitaries lauded the efforts of forest department for organizing such events at religious places on occasion of Gurpurab. The whole programme was conducted by Range Forest Officer, Nowshera Sudesh Kumar and other staff under close supervision of Divisional Forest officer, Nowshera Neelima Shah and Conservator of Forests, West circle Rajouri Vivek Verma.
