HIRANAGAR: The Department of Music Government GLDM Degree College Hiranagar organised an online Inter College Music Competition in Classical, Semi classical and Folk music in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC),Department of Sociology and Department of Physical Education.
The competition was organised under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The registration for the competition was opened from December 1st 2021 to December 8 2021. In this competition 70 students from different colleges viz. Govt. College for Women Udhampur, GDC (Boys) Udhampur, GDC Kathua, GDC Bishnah and GLDM Degree College Hiranagar had participated. Out of the total 70 participants only 19 participants shortlisted on the basis of audio-video clips received from them found their place in the final competition held on 15 and 16 December 2021.
The judges on the occasion were Dr Bharat Bhushan, Prof. Mukesh Kumar, Dr Arun Kumar and Prof. Shivani Raina. After the careful judgement and discussion among the judges the first prize was awarded to Nisha Sharma of Govt. GLDM Degree College Hiranagar, second prize to Saikat Ghorai and Akshay Kumar of GDC Boys Udhampur and third prize to Madhu Bala of GLDM Degree College, Hiranagar and Jasleen Kaur of GDC Bishnah. Omkar Singh of GDC Bishnah, Pajal Sharma of GLDM Hiranagar, Sonika Sharma of GDCW Udhampur and Kanchan Bala from GDCW Kathua also got an appreciation award. The principal of the College Professor Suresh Kumar Sharma in his message congratulated all the students who had participated in this competition. Professor Shujat Khan, IQAC Convenor and in charge of the college has provided all the support to the department of music in organising this competition. Formal vote of thanks were presented by Vikram Singh physical director of the college.
