Jammu: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday filed a charge-sheet in a local court in Doda against a revenue official, who was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 in Kishtwar district about five years ago, an official said. The charge sheet was filed against the then Patwari, Chatroo block, Toufeeq Ahmad, son of Bashir Ahmed, resident of Village Palmar, Tehsil & District Kishtwar, in the court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Doda, said ACB official, adding that FIR No 42/2017 under sections 5(1)(d) read with 5(2) & 4-A of Prevention of Corruption Act Svt 2006 and section 120-B of RPC was registered against him in 2017 on basis of a complaint that some revenue officials, including Ghulam Qadir Girdawar, Toufeeq Ahmed Patwari and Chowkidar Ghulam are demanding bribe from him after he cut down a tree. Initially, Tehsildar allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 but later bribe money was settled at Rs 10,000, the official said, adding that Patwari was caught red-handed while receiving first installment of Rs 5,000 from complainant. After completion of the investigation, the case was processed and after obtaining Government sanction, the case was charge-sheeted in the competent court for judicial determination, the official said, adding next date of hearing has been fixed for March 23, 2020.
