Senior SP MLA Azam Khan was disqualified from the UP assembly on Friday, a day after a MP/MLA court convicted him in the 2019 hate speech case and sentenced him to three years of imprisonment. The development paves way for a bye-poll in Rampur assembly seat which Khan won in 2022 assembly elections after vacating Rampur Lok Sabha seat.
