Land under illegal possession of former bureaucrat and wife of retired XEn retrieved in Samba

JAMMU: Jammu District Administration on Monday retrieved 175 kanal prime state- land during its anti-encroachment drives, which includes three kanals encroached in Chowadi area of the City outskirts by former Cabinet Minister of Jammu & Kashmir and Ex-MLA from Darhal Assembly constituency Choudhary Zulfikar.
The state land signboard was also installed on the retrieved land.
In another anti encroachment drive, the revenue officers vacated state land measuring at 89 Kanal 01 Marla in Sohanjana and Murarpur villages of Tehsil Mandal.
Similarly, state land measuring around 60 Kanal was retrieved by revenue officers at Village Gandharwan in Akhnoor. This is a prime state land which is only 3 KM away from Akhnoor- Poonch Highway.
Likewise, 23 Kanal state land was retrieved in village Nardi of Tehsil Maira Mandrian during an Anti encroachment drive conducted by District Administration. Continuing anti encroachment drive district administration, Samba today retrieved 5 kanal and 13 marlas prime land in Bari-Brahmana near Industrial estate, having market value worth crores.
The revenue officers informed that the anti encroachment drive was carried out against illegal land possession by ex-bureaucrat and Kusum Gupta, wife of R C Gupta (XEn retired).
During the anti encroachment drive JCB machines were deployed to dismantle the boundary walls and other RCC structures erected on the site.
The lands have been retrieved and notice boards indicating the status of land have been installed on the site.
The encroachments by influential encroachers are being identified and anybody found encroaching on State lands are being retrieved informed the official. Several such influential encroachers have been identified and the drive will continue.
Meanwhile, continuing anti encroachment drive, district administration Samba retrieved 3 kanal and 18 marla Roshni land at prime location near National Highway in Samba.
The revenue officers informed that the anti encroachment drive was carried out to reclaim Government land bearing Khasra No 70/66 in possession of a retired Government Employee in Village Nandni near NH.
During the anti encroachment drive, JCB machines were deployed to dismantle the boundary walls and other RCC structures erected on the site.
The land has been retrieved and notice boards’ indicating the status of land as government Land has been installed on the site.
GANDERBAL: As part of the ongoing Anti-encroachment drive, the District Administration Ganderbal on Monday retrieved over 66 kanals illegally occupied State/ Kahcharai land in the district.
The eviction drive was carried out jointly by Civil and Police administration in separate eviction drives held in different tehsils of the district.
The Revenue teams has retrieved approximately 18702 kanals of illegally occupied government land by various land grabbers till today which include 393 kanals of land from influential persons.
During today’s eviction drive, the total retrieved state land in various tehsils of Ganderbal stands at 58 kanals which include 35 kanals from influential persons besides 8 kanals of Kahcharai land was also retrieved occupied by influential persons.
During the anti-encroachment drive JCB machines were deployed to dismantle the boundary walls and other structures erected illegally on government land besides notice boards indicating the status of land, survey number, location, etc. was installed on the site.
Meanwhile in estate Wussan Kangan, the revenue authorities today retrieved 38 kanals and 08 Malras of encroached State and Kahcharai land from influential persons including businessman and top government officers/officials.
Most of the retrieved land in estate Wussan has been handed over to the Horticulture Department for development of orchards.
With regard to ongoing anti-encroachment drives undertaken in Ganderbal district, it has been assured by the District Administration that common masses and poor people will not be touched and only those who have illegally occupied the Government land by using their positions will be dealt strictly and retrieved land will be used exclusively for projects and programmes of public importance.
In continuation to the drive, District Administration Kathua on Monday retrieved 448 kanal, 10 marlas encroached state land from the clutches of various illegal occupants.
The Anti-encroachment team comprising revenue officers, police and other departments conducted the eviction.
The state land retrieved includes, 280 kanal, 03 marlas in block Dinga Amb; 120 kanal, 19 marlas in Hiranagar; 17 kanal, 04 marlas in Nagri Parole; 17 kanal, 04 marlas in Lohai Malhar; 8 Kanal in Basohli and 05 Kanal in Mahanpur Tehsil.
After evicting the encroachers, the revenue teams installed sign boards indicating the status of land as Government land.
The evicted land will be soon utilised for various critical Govt projects and land bank will be created for addressing land requirements by various departments.
Meanwhile, the district administration Ramban, in continuation of anti-encroachment drive, on Monday retrieved more than 1036 Kanal State land in various Tehsils of the district.
In joint anti-encroachment drives, the Revenue department and Police retrieved 176 Kanal state land in Tehsil Ramban , 464 Kanal in tehsil Rajgarh, 28 Kanal in Ramsoo, 210 Kanal in Pogal-Paristan (Ukhral), 142 Kanal in Banihal and 14 Kanal in Batote .
The teams also demolished illegal structures raised on the State and Kah Charayi Land.
On the instructions of Commissioner Secretary to Government, Revenue Department and Divisional Commissioners, the Evacuee Property Department with the active support of all District Administrations has retrieved huge chunks of evacuee land of different nature particularly agricultural at various places during last few months.
As per an official statement issued here on Monday, it has been given out that the department has for the first time reconciled the figures of evacuee land in the Valley in due consultation with the Revenue Department and wherever the hidden property was found, the same was notified as an ‘Evacuee Property’ under Section 6 of J&K Evacuees(Administration of Property) Act, Svt. 2006 and its retrieval on spot. The Evacuee Property department has the mandate towards safeguarding the evacuee property as such as and when reports of encroachment are available, the department acts swiftly with the collaboration of Revenue Department and retrieves illegally occupied evacuee land from the encroachers/ land grabbers/ illegal occupation. The department has appealed to the general public to refrain from raising illegal constructions on the evacuee land and illegal occupation thereof failing which action as warranted under the relevant provisions of J&K evacuees (Administration of Property) Act, Svt. 2006 shall be taken against the violators.
The Tehsildars who are also Assistant Custodian of the Evacuee property have been directed to ensure timely action on any type of encroachment if any surfaced within their jurisdiction.
With the active support of relevant quarters, the department has been able to carry out reconciliation of E.P Record with Revenue Department for identification of evacuee property and its reflection in the revenue records. This has helped to trace out the hidden property, illegal occupation and total quantum of land.
The department completed demarcation of evacuee land at various places and the process is still going on. This will follow retrieval thereof by removal of encroachment, illegal occupation/ cancellation of lease during last two years
It has also prepared a proper inventory of evacuee land and land bank, besides, the exercise of photography and geo-tagging of evacuee property is underway.
The identified chunk of land shall be utilized for developmental projects by UT Government either by lease or acquisition mode besides commercially viable land for gainfully utilization.
So far, the department has also provided land for various public purposes such as setting up of government offices and institutions and for such noble causes as setting up of hostels for wards of police and armed forces martyrs.
The practice of allotment of land on the basis of individual request has been done away with and now a transparent procedure of auction to determine lease premium of property has been adopted. In this connection recently the department has auctioned various flats and shops in Srinagar city and also auction of shops in Baramulla is under way. Various patches of land have also been identified which will put to auction to determine lease, after giving wide publicity.
