Udhampur: In continuation of its efforts after the recovery of 350 kgs of Poppy straw two days back Police Station Chenani again recovered 30 kg of poppy straw in its series of efforts against the menace of drugs.
A Police Party of PS Chenani led by Insp. Om Parkash SHO Ps Chenani under the supervision of Addl. SP Udhampur Anwaar Ul Haq-JKPS and SDPO Chenani Sheikh Tahir Amin-JKPS while performing routine vehicle checking duty near motor shed Chenani NHW, signalled to stop one truck (Canter) bearing registration number PB07S 9688 which was coming from Kashmir side and moving towards Jammu.
During checking of the said vehicle, a total of 30 Kgs of Poppy Straw packed in polythene bag was recovered which was concealed inside the tool box of the said vehicle to avoid being checked by the Police.
The accused identified as Sukhdev Singh S/O Mangal Singh R/o Modhera, Pannua the and District Tarn Taran, Punjab has been arrested on the spot. The contraband item along with the vehicle were seized on the spot.
In this regards, a case FIR No. 27/2023 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Chenani and further investigation has been started.
