SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has trapped and arrested two Government employees including a Principal of Higher Education Department in Srinagar for accepting bribes, in two separate incidents.
As per details, Prof Tariq Ashai, who is Principal of GDC Pattan, was arrested red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 60,000 at SP College in Srinagar. The official said that on receipt of the complaint, a FIR was registered, under Section & Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 in Police Station ACB north Kashmir and investigation was taken up. Accordingly a trap team was constituted. The trap team laid a successful trap and caught Tariq Ashai while accepting a bribe of Rs 60,000 on the spot in presence of independent witnesses. The official was taken to a police station in Srinagar and further investigation into the matter is going on.
Meanwhile, ACB received a complaint that an electrician, posted in Sheikhpora area, has demanded money to do a job. Acting on the complaint, a team was deployed in the area and electrician was arrested red-handed, while taking bribe. He has been identified as Javed Ahmed Nazar.
