JAMMU: J&K Veterans Cricket Club comprehensively defeated OTOD Cricket Club by 7 wickets in ongoing Martyrs Cup T20 Cricket Tournament being played at KC Cricket Ground.
Earlier, Gourav Gupta, General Secretary Chamber of Commerce and Industries Jammu, the Chief Guest at the function, appreciated the efforts of J&K Veterans Cricket Association for giving a platform to active and passionate veteran cricketers to play active and competitive cricket.
In today’s match OTOD captain Ajay Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first but Lazit was out early. OTOD batsmen scored with good run-rate and were eyeing for 200+ score but couple of wickets fell in consecutive overs of Rajesh and Vivek Suri and OTOD were all out for 170 runs in 18.4 overs.
For OTOD, Ave Kachroo, Rishab and Shivam scored 42, 40 and 27 runs respectively. For JKVCC, Sachin Jamwal, Rajesh and Ajeet took two wickets each while Vivek, Bhanu and Naseer Bandey claimed one wicket each.
Chasing a good total of 171 runs to win, J&K Veterans Cricket Club lost Amit on 6 but Bhanu and Anshu shared 48 runs before Anshu was retired hurt at 23 runs. Bhanu was merciless to all bowlers and single handedly took the team to victory in 15.4 overs with a brilliantly studded 104 runs in just 50 balls with 5 towering six and 13 fours. JKVCC won the match by 7 wickets.
Bhanu Gupta was declared Man of the Match for his brilliant performance.
