Five including former terrorist arrested with Rs 2.15 Cr fake currency notes

JAMMU: A former terrorist among five accused have been arrested from Bathindi area in Jammu on Saturday evening after police seized Rs 2.15 Cr fake currency notes from their possession.
The accused arrested have been identified as Nazir Ahmed, son of Mohd Jabbar, resident of Barzulla, Srinagar (former terrorist); Riyaz Ahmed, son of Abdul Gani, resident of Sheikhhar, Pulwama; Mohd. Naimullah, son of Mohd Zaheer-ul-Haq, resident of Dwarka, Delhi; Manzoor Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohd., resident of Nishat, Srinagar and Basit, son of Gh Hussain, resident of Shopian.
As per details, an information was received at Police Station Bahu Fort through reliable sources regarding some persons carrying low quality Indian currency notes to use the same for illegal purposes.
On this, a team of Police Station Bahu Fort under the supervision of SDPO East Syed Zaheer Abbas Jafari led by SHO Bahu Fort Inspector Nayat Ali assisted by In-Charge Police Post Narwal SI Lalit Kumar, In-Charge Police Post Bathindi PSI Shakeel and PSI Adarsh Kant laid a special Naka near Kargil Colony, Bathindi. Finally, police teams rounded up five suspects who were on their vehicle (HR26CQ-8653). During search of the vehicle Rs 5 lakh Indian currency notes along with three cheque books and Rs 2.15 crore low quality Indian currency notes were recovered from their possession. FIR 71/2023 under relevant sections was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort. It is pertinent to mention that accused namely Nazir Ahmed already remained in Tihar Jail for six years in a terror case where he came in contact with the other accused namely Mohd Naimullah. The overall operation was done under the supervision of SP South Mamta Sharma.
