PM Modi may have to walk more than 500 meters on foot during the Ram Temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya on January 22. The temple trust is expected to offer him the role of carrying the existing movable idol of Lord Ram to the newly constructed temple. The main puja, presided over by PM Modi, will take place between 11.30am and 12.30pm. Sources said one among the two idols which have been carved out of the finest quality marble from Rajasthan or dark colour granite from Karnataka was going to be placed in the garbha-griha.
