If poll bonds scrapped, cash may be back in play, fears EC

Even as the Supreme Court verdict on the petition challenging the electoral bonds scheme is awaited, there appear to be concerns within the Election Commission, particularly ahead of the general election next year, about unaccounted cash making a comeback as the primary mode of political funding in the event of bonds or their anonymity being scrapped. Though the EC opposes electoral bonds on the grounds that they do not offer transparency regarding the source of funds contributed to political parties through this route.
