DB seeks ATR on compensation for victims of cross border firing

JAMMU, Oct 31: In a PIL seeking to pay equal and uniform compensation of Rs 10 lakh for each victim of cross border firing and landmine blasts, a Division Bench of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court comprising Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan and Justice Puneet Gupta directed respondents to file statement of facts/action taken report on or before next date of hearing.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, DB observed that as per the status report dated 21.10.2024, seven persons have already been granted normal ex-gratia relief of Rs 1 lakh under Central Scheme.
DB observed that the respondents have not disclosed the steps taken for grant of ex-gratia/compensation with regard to other persons whose names are reflected in Annexure-IV of the writ petition to which learned counsel for the respondents shall file statement of facts/action taken report on or before next date of hearing.
