JAMMU, Nov 23: Gymnastics Federation of India’s vice-president, Kiran Wattal today gave credit to Maitri Bodh Parivaar for its initiative aimed at the development of J&K and promoting the concept of ‘oneness’ & ‘Ek Bharat, Hum Bharat’.
Addressing an event in Srinagar on the topic ‘Transforming J&K: Youth, Culture, Equality’, where he was chief guest, he commended Maitri Bodh Parivaar for its initiative that ‘brings together diverse voices to focus on the upliftment of J&K – a region that is not only a geographical paradise but also a cradle of wisdom, resilience and cultural richness’.
Watal, who is also convenor of Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj, termed youth as torchbearers of transformation and architects of tomorrow. “And, in a region as rich in heritage as J&K, they have the unique opportunity to combine tradition with modernity. As a society, our responsibility is to empower them with knowledge, skills and confidence to shape a better future. The J&K youth have always been resilient despite challenges, and their energy needs to be channlised into innovation, education & entrepreneurship,” he said.
He called upon youth to take pride in their heritage and present it to the world as a symbol of harmony, unity and innovation.
He also said that true transformation was not possible without equality. “Social, economic and gender equality must form the bedrock of our efforts. J&K has seen the power of unity in diversity, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that no one, irrespective of caste, creed, gender or background, is left behind,” he added.
Wattal said that transformation was not just a one-time effort but it was a journey which required collaboration among communities, Government, private players and organisations like Maitri Bodh Parivaar.
He said he was reminded of the words of Mahatma Gandhi – “Be the change you wish to see in the world’. “Each one of us has the power to contribute to the transformation of J&K. Let us commit to build a Jammu & Kashmir that embodies the spirit of unity in diversity and serves as a beacon of hope for the entire nation,” he added.
On the occasion, Wattal also honoured 15 unsung heroes who had made praiseworthy contribution in the fields of sports and culture.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Dr Ana Gupta, Saba Bhat, Irfan Attri and Faisal Ali.
It may be mentioned that Maitri Bodh Parivaar is a socio-spiritual organisation working under its founder Maitreya Dadashreeji for the upliftment of human consciousness through the process of transformation since 2013.
