JAMMU, Feb 7: The 9th District Jammu Handball Championship began today at Playfield Shastri Nagar, with matches in Senior Men and Women and Junior Boys and Girls categories. The three-day event is organized by the Player Association Handball Jammu, in collaboration with J&K Handball Association.
Talat Mahmood Shawl, Principal of Govt. Polytechnic Jammu, inaugurated the championship as chief guest. Sukhdeep Singh, Head of the Civil Department at Govt Polytechnic Jammu, was the guest of honour. Shawl urged players to focus on improving their skills and physical fitness.
About 140 players from various clubs are competing in the event. The first match in the Junior Boys section saw Sandeep Pal Club beat Sampark Handball Club by 15-11. Sampark Handball Club then narrowly defeated Jammu Club by 16-15.
