It is alarming that deaths related to cancer cases are increasing day by day. In a survey conducted by World Health Organization, the South East Asia Region including India reported the highest number of cancer of lips and oral cavity cervix. WHO South East Asia Region includes India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Maldives, Myanmar and Nepal. The survey further says that there will be 85% increase in the number of new cases and deaths in the region by 2050. According to the report 2.4 million new cases were reported in 2022 including 56,000 children and 1.5 million deaths .
The cancer is the second name of death. If it is detected at the initial stage then there are chances of patient of recovery from this disease. The Ministry of Health Affairs has a greater role to play by taking effective steps to minimize cancer cases. In this regard the service of various agencies can be taken to create awareness among the masses. Vibrant media of this country should take a lead in this noble cause.
