37 bovines rescued, one arrested

UDHAMPUR, Feb 11: Foiling two major attempts of bovine smuggling, Police rescued 37 bovines besides arresting a smuggler, here today.
28 bovines were rescued at Rehambal while nine more were rescued at Jakhani naka point by Police Station Udhampur.
Police team of Police Station Rehambal, led by SHO Nishat Sumbria while performing patrolling duty at naka point Rehambal, stopped a truck bearing registration number JK13E- 4142. During checking, 28 number of bovines were found laden inside the vehicle in a cruel manner and without any valid permission.
Police rescued the bovines and arrested the truck driver cum bovine smuggler, identified as Sameer Ahmed, son of Mushtaq Ahmed of Chamalwass, Ramban. In this regard, a case FIR under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Rehambal.
In another success, 9 more bovines were rescued by a team of Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Raghuvir Singh, during vehicle checking at Jakhani naka point. These bovines were being smuggled in Dumper, bearing registration number JK19A-5938. Driver of the vehicle managed to flee from the spot.
All the bovines were rescued and shifted to a safer place. In this regard, a case FIR under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Udhampur.
