JAMMU, Apr 30: Harvinder Singh, widely known as Sodhi, has etched his name in history by becoming the first-ever Level-2 Softball Coach in North India. The prestigious certification was awarded by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), the global Governing body for Olympic softball. This makes Harvinder Singh one of only four such certified coaches in India.
Harvinder, who serves as the Head Coach of J&K Softball, has an impressive track record, having been chief coach of Indian National Men’s Softball Team during their tour of Japan in 2023. He is also a Physical Education Teacher (PET) at Government High School, Raipur, Satwari, Jammu, appointed under SRO-376 of J&K Government for his excellence in sports.
The Level-2 WBSC certification, which Harvinder earned in February 2024 in Pattaya, Thailand, signifies highest level of coaching expertise in the sport. His dedication to the sport is further demonstrated by his distinction as the topper in the 2006-2007 Diploma Courses in Sports Coaching (Softball) from the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Bangalore.
Waseem Raja Khan, Hony. General Secretary of the J&K Softball Association, lauded Harvinder for his achievement, emphasizing the positive impact his expertise will have on softball in Jammu & Kashmir.
