JAMMU: The Economic Offences Wing (EoW) of Crime Branch Jammu has booked eight individuals, including directors of a private company, a government employee, notorious fraudsters, and proprietors of businesses, in multiple fraud cases involving a total amount of Rs 3.11 crore, along with securing jobs through fake qualification certificates.
In accordance with directions from the court, an FIR was registered based on a complaint by Guninder Jeet Singh Wazir of Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, against the Promoter Directors of Shreekatyani Metal Pvt. Ltd.-Nitin Gupta and Nidhi Gupta of Yojna Vihar, Delhi, and Nitin Maheshwari of Suryanagar, Ghaziabad (U.P.). They have been accused of fraudulently causing a wrongful loss of Rs 2.64 crore to the complainant, while illegally benefiting themselves.
In a separate case, an FIR was lodged following a complaint by Sanjeev Mahajan of Jammu against Nishaan Singh, proprietor of M/S Sanbun Investments, resident of Rajdoot Marg, Chankyapuri, South West Delhi, for criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of Rs 35 lakh.
Additionally, a fresh FIR has been registered against notorious fraudsters Saroop Lal (son of Manga Ram, Bari Brahmana) and Ashish Bhandari (son of late Satish Bhandari, Subhash Nagar, Jammu) for duping Jawahar Lal and Bibi Ram, residents of Akhnoor, of Rs 12.30 lakh. The accused allegedly lured the victims by promising government jobs as Forest Guards and provided fake appointment orders. Both Saroop Lal and Ashish Bhandari are already named in several other FIRs for similar fraudulent activities. Further, an FIR was registered on communication from CID Headquarters J&K against Sohan Lal, resident of Arnia, Jammu, for securing a job in the J&K Health Department as a Dental Technician using a fake matriculation certificate. The certificate was allegedly procured by Swarn Singh (son of Chuni Lal, Treva), who has also been named as an accused in the case.
Senior Superintendent of Police Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh, confirmed that four FIRs-No. 55/2025, 56/2025, 57/2025, and 58/2025-have been registered at the Police Station Crime Branch EOW Jammu after preliminary inquiries, and detailed investigations are currently in progress.
