JAMMU, Sept 15: The Chamber of Commerce & Industry(CCI), Jammu today raised serious concerns over the dilapidated state of roads and essential services across the Jammu region.
In a meeting of office bearers CCI president, Arun Gupta highlighted the urgent need for permanent solution to the infrastructure crises. Almost all the roads, lanes and the drainage system including the national highway, are in a bad condition. This is due to continuous heavy rains and flash floods which are severely hampering the free movement of vehicular traffic and general public, Gupta said.
He acknowledge the Government’s temporary efforts to fill deep ditches with muddy waste material. However, he warned that this would not last long and would simply wash away during the next rain fall. The Government must implement permanent corrective measures to find a lasting solution, he stated.
Gupta also pointed out that the water supplies is another critical sector that has been completely damaged in and around Jammu. People are suffering badly, he said. The CCI president demanded that the UT Government must take necessary steps on war footing to ease and rectify the hardships facing the common people.
