JAMMU, Sept 16: Jammu Kashmir Nationalist United Front (JKNUF) has expressed grave concern over prevailing water scarcity in Jagti township and urged the Government to take immediate measures for restoring the water supply to 3000 families in the camp.
In a statement issued here, today, the working president JKNUF Rakesh Handoo said that for last 23 days drinking water supply has not been restored as was damaged by recent torrential rains, by the Jal Shakti Department and the Departmental authorities have slept over the matter with no response. Surprisingly the Relief & Rehabilitation Organisation has made hollow assurances and no efforts were made for restoration of water supply except deployment of few water tankers on weekly basis.
He said only ground floor people are able to fill up drinking water from tankers as people living on third and fourth flour can’t lift the same especially the overaged.
Handoo appealed to Lt Governor, Chief Minister, Jalshakti Minister, Chief Secretary, Commissioner Secretary DMRRR, J&K U.T.to kindly direct the Jal Shakti Department, Jammu, for restoring water supply to Jagti Migrant Camp at an earliest.
