Sir,
The latest NIRF 2025 rankings have brought a wave of encouragement for Jammu and Kashmir. The University of Kashmir’s leap to 59th in the Overall Category and its place among the top-10 State Public Universities marks a proud moment, reflecting resilience and academic growth despite the region’s challenges. Equally commendable is the University of Jammu’s consistency, along with the promising performance of SKUAST-Kashmir, IIT Jammu, IIM Jammu, NIT Srinagar, and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. These achievements underline that J&K is steadily emerging as an education hub.
At the same time, underperforming institutions like SKUAST-Jammu must introspect and undergo academic audits to bridge performance gaps. Rankings are not just about prestige but about strengthening teaching, research, and infrastructure. With sustained government support and institutional focus, J&K can further elevate its academic ecosystem and attract meritorious students nationwide.
