JAMMU: Jammu Police, South has tightened its noose on both drug traffickers and organised criminals, achieving a series of record recoveries and arrests in recent days.

Under the leadership of IGP Jammu Zone Bhim Sen Tuti, South Zone police teams have successfully cracked down on narco-peddlers, seized stolen property worth lakhs, and booked repeat offenders.
The details were shared today in a press briefing by SP South Jammu Ajay Sharma, who highlighted not only the latest twin breakthroughs but also the sustained achievements of Sub Division East in the last eight months.
Latest Recoveries & Arrests: Drug Network Busted – 3 Arrests, 280.5 gms Heroin Seized.
On September, , during Naka checking at Railway Pulli, Narwal, one accused, Vishal, son of Ajay, resident of Ludhiana, A/P Rajeev Nagar, was arrested with 265 gms heroin and an electronic weighing machine.
Further probe led to the arrest of a husband-wife duo, Gogi and Reema, both residents of Rajeev Nagar, from whom 15 gms heroin and another weighing machine were seized.
FIR 279/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act was registered at PS Bahu Fort.
Hardcore vehicle lifter nabbed – 1 Arrest, 07 Vehicles & 26 Tower Batteries Worth Rs 35 Lakh Recovered
On September 17, 2025, a notorious criminal, Basharat Mahmood, son of Kabir Hussain, resident of Niru Jaal, Rajouri at present Bathindi, was intercepted at Pir Bagh Colony. Despite assaulting police with harmful substances and an iron rod, injuring SGCT Mohd. Arshad, he was overpowered and arrested.
His confession led to the recovery of 07 stolen vehicles (including multiple Altos, a Wagon-R, an Ecco Van, and a scooty) and 26 stolen telecom tower batteries, collectively valued at Rs 35 lakh. Case under FIR No. 276/2025 U/S 109/121/123 BNS stands registered at PS Bahu Fort.
Meanwhile, SP South Ajay Sharma emphasized that these operations are part of a larger sustained crackdown. From January to September 2025, Sub Division East has delivered:
31 FIRs registered under NDPS Act; 1.183 kg heroin recovered (valued at Rs 2-3 crore internationally), 10 kg Ganja seized. 35 accused arrested in drug cases, 220 preventive detentions in drug-related activities. 07 vehicles, 26 tower batteries (Rs 35 lakh) recovered from thieves
Total arrests (recent highlight): 04 accused in two latest operations adding the recent seizures, the total heroin recovery in the period stands at 1.463 kg (1,183 gms + 280.5 gms).
SP South credited IGP Jammu Zone Bhim Sen Tuti for his strategic supervision and guidance, which has been crucial in maintaining operational intensity against criminals.
Police urged citizens to remain vigilant and share information on drugs and suspicious activities. Park vehicles in secure spaces and report theft incidents immediately.
“With public cooperation, Jammu Police is determined to wage a relentless war against drugs and crime, ensuring a safe and secure future for the citizens of Jammu,” SP Ajay Sharma concluded.
