JAMMU, Sept 23: Yuva Rajput Sabha and Shri Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha among various social and political organizations today celebrated 130th birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh, the last Dogra ruler of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir Princely State.
On the occasion, which also coincides with 100 years of coronation of Maharaja Hari Singh, impressive rallies were taken out by the enthusiastic Dogras attired in traditional dress and supporting turban while floral tribute were paid to the Maharaja amidst distributions of sweets and drum beats.
Major highlight of the celebration functions was the mega bike and car rally by Yuva Rajput Sabha, which took off from Bantalab and culminated at the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh near main Tawi Bridge after passed through various locations, including Ploura, Janipur, and other areas.

On the culmination of rally, floral tribute were paid at the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh near Tawi Bridge, amidst cultural performances and patriotic songs. YRS president Sanjeev Singh Rinku led the rally and tribute paying programme, which was also attended by DC Jammu, Rakesh Minhas, former Minister Ajatshatru Singh and other members of the erstwhile Royal Dogra family, MLA Kishtwar Shagun Parihar; former presidents of YRS Vikram Singh Vicky, Rajan Singh Happy, Rajveer Singh, Surinder Singh Gilli, Raghuvir Singh (Chairman), Rajinder Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Rajesh Singh and others.
Shri Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha also organized grand rallies and impressive functions at Samba, Ramban, Reasi, Jandrah, Sunderbani and other places to pay homage to the Maharaja on birth anniversary and 100 years of his coronation.
In Ramban, the grand rally started from Ward number 2, near Petrol Pump and passed through upper Ramban Bazar before reaching at Govt Hr Sec School, Ramban. Naryan Singh, Chairmn of Amar Kshatriya Sabha Charitable Trust was the chief guest on the occasion.
After paying rich tribute to the Maharaja, guests spoke high about the life and working of Maharaja Hari Singh. Prominent speakers were MLA, Ramban Arjun Singh (Raju), Karan Dev Singh (Distt President Ramban) and others.
In the function by Rajput Sabha at Block Panthal in Reasi, Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal ( Rtd) was the chief guest and Parkash Chand Anthal, Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu was the guest of honour while Jugal Kishore Sharma, former Minister was special guest. Prominent among others who attended the function and expressed their views included — Rajinder Mengi (DDC) and Chander Mohan Singh (BDC Chairman).
In Samba, the grand function at Rajput Sabha Bhawan was graced by Surjeet Singh Slathia, BJP MLA, as the chief guest and a large number of prominent citizens, community elders, and admirers of the late Maharaja.
Speaking on the occasion, Slathia dwelt in detail on the life, vision and contribution of Maharaja Hari Singh, describing him as one of the most benevolent, farsighted and reformist rulers of Jammu and Kashmir. Prominent among those present on the occasion included Inder Singh Sambyal, President Rajput Sabha Samba; Karan Singh, General Secretary Rajput Samba; Mohan Singh, Asha Rani President BJP Samba and others.
J&K BJP celebrated the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh with great reverence at the party headquarters, Jammu. The tribute programme was led by J&K BJP President Sat Sharma (CA), Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Er Gulam Ali Khatana, and BJP National Secretary & MLA Dr Narinder Singh. Senior leaders, MLAs, office bearers, and district presidents joined the programme, which began with the garlanding of Maharaja Hari Singh’s bust and floral tribute to his portrait.
Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma described the Maharaja as a legendary social reformer who ruled not for power but to serve his people. Jugal Kishore Sharma recalled the Maharaja’s role in uniting J&K with India.
A team of senior Congress leaders, led by Working President Raman Bhalla, chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, Ved Mahajan, Suresh Dogra and others, visited Maharaja Hari Singh statue at Tawi Bridge and joined the birthday celebrations there.
They garlanded the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh and paid him floral tribute. Raman Bhalla, speaking on the occasion, highlighted the landmark progressive decisions of Maharaja Hari Singh and reiterated his party’s pledge for restoration of the Maharaja’s State, which was disbanded by BJP Government.
Members of the Bar Association Jammu, alongwith the office bearers paid rich tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh by organizing a function. The event began with paying of floral tribute to the Maharaja by the office bearers of the association, including President K Nirmal Kotwal, Vice President Baldev Singh, General Secretary Pardeep Majotra, Joint Secretary Anshu Mahajan and Treasurer Rahul Aggarwal.
Speaking on the occasion, President Kotwal remembered Maharaja High Singh and highlighted how the High Court of Judicature at Jammu & Kashmir was established by the Maharaja in the year 1928. The gathering was also addressed by former President BAJ Sr Advocate M K Bhardwaj, former General Secretary Advocate Ranjit Singh Jamwal, and Advocate Supriya Singh Chouhan.
Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) celebrated the Birth Anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh under the chairmanship of officiating president Col Karan Singh. Members paid floral tribute to the Maharaja and recalled his great qualities. The important members present on the occasion include Adv H C Jalmaria, G A Khwaja, Arvinder Singh Amn, Brig M S Jamwal, Col Dr Virendra Kumar Sahi, Jagmohan Sharma, Ravi Singh, Rajinder Gupta, Pawan Sharma and others.
The Department of Strategic and Regional Studies (DSRS), University of Jammu, in collaboration with the Department of History, JU, and the Jammu and Kashmir Study Centre (JKSC), organised a public lecture to commemorate the 100 years of the coronation of Maharaja Hari Singh and his birth anniversary.
The program was chaired by Prof Suman Jamwal, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Head, Department of History, JU while the keynote address was delivered by Prof Shyam Narayan Lal, distinguished faculty member at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu.
A large number of people from different communities gathered at Khour to mark the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh with heartfelt tribute and remembrance. Rakesh Singh Bhau, Youth President of All India Bhau Rajput, along with the Royal Rajput Yuva Sangathan, managed the function under the leadership of Narinder Singh Bhau, ensuring the programme’s smooth execution and inclusivity.
Mission Statehood celebrated the occasion by paying floral tribute at Maharaja Hari Singh statue near Tawi Bridge, under the leadership of Sunil Dimple, who pledge for the restoration of statehood to J&K, special status under Article 370, 35-A and implementation of Instrument of Accession conditions signed by the Maharaja.
Humanity Public School, Bassi Kalan, Bari Brahmana celebrated the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh by organizing a special assembly wherein contributions of the Maharaja towards education, social reforms, justice, and welfare of the people were highlighted.
On 130th birth Anniversary of Maharaja Hari. Singh, Captain Tushar Mahajan Memorial Trust today organized relief donation camp at Bathi , Kaithgali and Meer village of Panchari tehsil to support families affected by the recent flash floods in Panchari tehsil of Udhampur district . Trust chairman Dev Raj Gupta along with prominent trust members, Satish Chopra , Ranjit Parihar , Deepanker Gupta and Adv Karun Raina today reached in different villages on foot and distributed relief material .

The National Incredible Literacy Mission (NILM), Jammu, celebrated the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh with great reverence and enthusiasm. The event was marked by tribute and discussions highlighting the significant contributions of Maharaja Hari Singh to the development and progress of Jammu and Kashmir. Kavita Bali, Secretary of NILM J&K, addressed the gathering and spoke about the enduring legacy of Maharaja Hari Singh.
