JAMMU, Sept 25: In order to provide a helping hand to the flood affected people, NHPC Regional Office, Jammu organized a relief camp, here today.
The camp was organised under the leadership of Ram Swaroop, executive Director, Regional Office, Jammu, during which dry ration packets were distributed and medical assistance was provided to the flood affected people.
Kanchan Swaroop, president, NHPC Women’s Club, Jammu and members of the NHPC family were also present during the camp.
This event was organised in collaboration with NGO Diva International Foundation.
Earlier, to help the flood victims, relief materials were also distributed by NHPC Regional Office in various areas. Medical aids including free medicines were distributed after medical consultation.
The first relief camp was set up in Marh Block, second in Pargwal Block and the third camp was organized in Bahu Fort Block area.
Speaking on the occasion, Ram Swaroop said that it is our moral as well as social duty to help the needy in this time of natural disaster.
NHPC, in addition to power generation, also fulfills its social responsibility. NHPC implements several CSR activities in the region.
Recently, NHPC provided financial aid to the Ramakrishna Mission, Udaiwala for establishment of a state of the art eye operation theater.
NHPC also provides free medical consultations and medicines to the needy people around its power stations and also runs schools for the education of their children.
NHPC is also running skill development programs to empower women and local youth and promote self-employment. Additionally, infrastructure development work is being carried out at the local level to help local people.
Among others who were present during the camp included Guru Dutt, Satnam Singh, Pankaj Vashisht, R P Maurya, and senior officials of NHPC.
