NEW DELHI, Sept 28: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited ( BSNL) in partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) and Tejas Networks Limited unveiled the “Bharat Telecom Stack” which is a modern, secure solution designed and developed entirely in India, an official statement said.
This initiative draws from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of digitally connected and self-reliant India.
“Today, we celebrate a monumental achievement for National pride. The nationwide rollout of our indigenous 4G net work, built on the strength of collaboration with TCS, Tejas Network with C-DOT, is a resounding declaration of an Aatmnirbhar Bharat. The ‘Made in India’ Stack brought to life by the relentless dedication of team BSNL, secures our digital future and ensures that the fruits of connectivity empower every citizen bridging the digital divide like never before.” said A Robert J Ravi, CMD of BSNL.
Moreover, with this launch India becomes the fifth country in the world to have a self-reliant, indigenous telecom technology stack supporting 4G and beyond.

This Swadeshi 4G technology, a result of brilliant innovation by C-DOT, Tejas, TCS and tireless efforts of BSNL’s workforce is engineered for excellence and stability. It is a cornerstone for building a digitally inclusive society, ready to evolve to 5G and beyond, ensuring that India’s growth story is powered by sovereign, homegrown technology.” said Sandeep Govil, Director (Consumer Mobility – CM) of BSNL.
It was completed within two years making it one of the fastest 4G network deployments with full integration into the existing 2G/3G network infrastructure at BSNL, said official statement.
N Ganapathy Subramaniam, Advisor of Telecom Strategic Initiatives at TCS & Chairman of Tejas Networks said “We are proud that we have put India on the map of only a handful of countries that have developed a comprehensive, trusted and software upgradable Telecom technology stack. The successful deployment at BSNL is historic and significant in ushering the benefits of powerful data and voice networks across the country.”
“It once again reflects TCS’ commitment to building India’s digital infrastructure and continuously supporting the country’s digital aspirations. The stack built in compliance to 3GPP standards lays the foundation for India’s further contribution to standards”, he added.
3GPP or Third Generation Partnership Project refers to a global collaboration that develops technical specifications for mobile communication systems, including 5G, 4G LTE and earlier 3G Technologies.
This rollout strengthens India’s national security and enables equitable access to both urban and rural India. (UNI)
