Dr Jitendra chairs Udhampur DISHA meeting, reiterates strict action against illegal miners

UDHAMPUR, Sept 28: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh chaired the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting here today.
Taking a serious view of illegal mining in the district, Dr Singh issued a strict instruction to penalise illegal mining activities. He said the practice must be checked immediately. Dr Jitendra Singh said, the concerned department must report cases of illegal mining to the law enforcing agencies in non-allotted areas so that strict and exemplary action is taken against culprits.
On the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh handed an approval letter of 14 crore rupees from his MP fund for an ambulance for Government Medical College Udhampur.
Dr Jitendra Singh impressed on the district administration and MLAs to undertake public outreach programmes to highlight the achievements and the benefits of welfare schemes of Modi Government to increase enrolment of intended beneficiaries. He said awareness camps need to be set up on schemes like PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana which aims to provide free electricity to households by facilitating the installation of rooftop solar panels. The Minster said the scheme offers a subsidy of up to 40 percent to households, making renewable energy more affordable and accessible.
Dr Jitendra Singh urged the public representatives and the district administration to work together and visit villages and towns together to address public demands and resolve their issues expeditiously. The Minister suggested that the Deputy Commissioner may request the MLAs to use their own influence to push for early completion of ongoing projects for public good. He called for adopting participatory approach towards development, with active engagement of Panchayati Raj Institutions, DDC members and local representatives.
The Minister called for branding of local milch product ‘Kaladi’ which can emerge as an avenue for startups and livelihoods. The Minister suggested that the direct administration should chart out a plan to promote kaladi to the next level under One District One Product(ODOP)
In her presentation, Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai reported significant growth in Centrally-Sponsored Schemes (CSS), highlighting successful implementation and increased outreach. She informed that strict directions have been issued to ban the private practice of resident doctors of GMC Udhampur and disciplinary action is to be initiated in case of violations.
Regarding maintenance of PMGSY roads, it was informed that Executive Engineers have been instructed to ensure quality, with regular inspections and joint visits being conducted with PRIs. The DC also informed that under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), 160 schemes have been sanctioned in Udhampur district, out of which 13 have been completed. Adequate deployment of water tankers was ensured during summer season.
The DISHA meeting was attended by DDC Chairman, Udhampur Lal Chand, MLA Chenani, Balwant Singh Mankotia, MLA Udhampur West, Pawan Kumar Gupta, MLA Udhampur East, Ranbir Singh Pathania, MLA Ramnagar, Sunil Bhardwaj, DDC Vice Chairperson, Juhi Manhas Pathania Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Saloni Rai, SSP Udhampur Amod Ashok Nagpure and other Senior officers from civil Administration and Police.
