KISHTWAR, Sept 29: Irked by the scarcity of drinking water, the residents of Hidyal and adjoining areas here today staged a protest demonstration against Jal Shakti Department (JSD).
The protesters claimed that despite tall claims of the authorities, water crisis continues in Kishtwar, especially in Mandal area of district headquarters.
They blocked the road leading to Kishtwar Police Lines and Office of the Executive Engineer JSD Kishtwar and raised slogans against the authorities concerned.
Rakesh Kumar, a protester said the authorities have failed to address the problem of water crisis.
“Instead of listening to the complaints from consumers, the officers misbehave with people,” he maintained.
After the officers from JSD assured the protesters to restore the water supply by the evening, the protesters dispersed.
