CB charge sheets 2 property dealers in land scam

JAMMU, Sept 30: Crime Branch (CB) Jammu has arrested and charge sheeted two property dealers from Kathua for their alleged involvement in a land scam worth Rs 1.25 crore.
The accused have been identified as Devinder Singh of Ward number 10 Kathua, and Anil Kumar of Baira, Kathua.

According to officials, an FIR was registered in 2024 on a complaint by Jaswinder Singh of Pathankot and Verinder Sharma of Greater Kailash, Jammu.
They said the complainants, partners in the firm “Transworld Infra Developers and Builders,” alleged that the accused claimed to own 270 kanals of land at Govindsar, Kathua, and fraudulently sold it by falsifying ownership records, thereby duping them of Rs 1.25 crore.
“During investigation, the allegations were substantiated and both accused were arrested,” officials said.
According to them, a chargesheet has been filed in the court of the Special Mobile Magistrate, Kathua.
Officials said Devinder Singh was earlier booked in 2020 in another case registered at Police Station Kathua under various Sections of the IPC, and a challan was also produced against him.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh, confirmed that the case under FIR number 24/2024 registered at Crime Branch EOW Jammu has been proved, and the charge sheet has been filed for judicial determination.
