DC Poonch disburses over Rs 12.6 Lakh to construction workers under welfare schemes

POONCH, Sept 30: In a significant welfare initiative on the eve of Sewa Parv, Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma has disbursed an amount of Rs 12,62,254 among registered construction workers under various labour welfare schemes.
The financial assistance, disbursed by the Labour Department, benefitted construction workers and their families under the Chronic Disease Assistance, Death Compensation and Educational Assistance schemes.
While addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner acknowledged the invaluable contribution of labourers to the nation-building process and underscored the urgent need to safeguard the interests of workers in the unorganised sector.
He emphasized the importance of ensuring social security, healthcare and educational support to the families of construction workers to improve their quality of life.
The DC further reiterated the administration’s commitment to the welfare of the working class and praised the proactive efforts of the Assistant Labour Commissioner’s Office, Poonch in implementing government schemes with dedication and timeliness.
