Director Agriculture flags off exposure tour

JAMMU, Sept 30: Director Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare, Anil Gupta here today flagged off a two day interstate exposure visit of progressive farmers under ATMA (Sub Mission Agriculture Extension) to Punjab Agriculture University (PAU), Ludhiana and 35 farmers from District Jammu accompanied by two officers from the Department of Agriculture, Vinay Kumar and Kuldeep Sharma were part of the group.
Main aim of the exposure visit is to acquaint the farmers with latest innovations for increasing the production and productivity of crops – in the changing scenario of climatic change, diversification in the field of Agriculture for increasing the income of farmers – together with raising socio-economic status of the farming community.
The Director Agriculture advised the farmers to actively interact with the scientists of the University to know latest research/models developed by the University & to apply the same in own fields. He also stressed the farmers to enhance their income by adopting other allied activities like mushroom, agriculture, poultry, dairy farm with agriculture crops.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Jammu, Manohar Lal Sharma asked the farmers to en-cash the opportunity, share ideas, clear doubts, increase skills and knowledge in agriculture.
Others present on the occasion were District Agriculture Officer (Extn.), Vinod Kumar Khajuria, Subject Matter Specialist, Sham Khajuria, Subject Matter Specialist, S. Gurmeet Singh, Subject Matter Specialist, Munshi Ram and other staff from the Office of Chief Agriculture Officer, Jammu.
