JAMMU, Oct 1: Solemnization of Maha Yagyas, religious functions, performing of Kanjak Pujan and immersion of Saakh in different rivers and canals sown on the first day of holy festival marked the culmination of nine -day long Navratri festival across Jammu region today.
There was a huge rush of devotees on Ranbir canal, river Tawi and Tawi canal from early in the morning for immersion of Saakh. The devotees prior to immersion of Saakh in water performed Puja in a traditional way. The process continued the whole day across the region with large number of devotees were also seen immersing Saakh in river Chenab at various ghats in Akhnoor and other rivers in different parts of Jammu.
Meanwhile Mahanavmi was celebrated at Laxmi Narayan Mandir Gandhi Nagar today. The Management Trust of the Mandir organised a special Pooja and Hawan for celebration of Mahanavmi after observing nine days Navratri festival in Mandir complex. During nine days recitation of Ramayana, bhajans of Maa Vaishnio Devi were held daily besides Aarti of Mata.
The entire religious programme was organised by S C Rekhi general secretary of the Trust under the guidance of Th Gulchain Singh Charak its president and former Minister.
Bhagawaan Gopinathji Trust organised a 10 day long spiritual activity during the auspicious days of Navratra at the Bhagawaan Gopinath Ji Ashram Udaiwala Bohri near here. Hundreds of devotees thronged the Ashram daily from September 22 to October 1 during Navratra days. The spiritual activity was daily held in the Ashram from 4-30 am to 7-30 am for invoking the blessings of Goddess during which over three crore Mantras were recited.
The hawan started on September 30 and Puranahuti was performed this afternoon making the culmination of 10 days long function. This was followed by serving of prashad to devotees.
Ashram handout said that Hawan was performed at Srinagar, Delhi, Bangaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Vikaspuri and other Satsang Mandlis spread across the country.
The nine -day long Navratra festival was celebrated with great religious fervour and gaiety at Sharika Peeeth, Sanstha, Subash Nagar where daily recitation of Mantras in praise of Goddess Durga was held. The function was held under the supervision of Sanstha president, M K Jalali and devotees were also served prashad.
Large number of devotees thronged the Durga Nag temple, Srinagar on Mahanavmi today and paid obeisance to Goddess Durga. A Maha Yagya was also performed in the temple complex under the supervision of trustees Kundan Kashmiri and M K Gulabi under the guidance of president of Durga Nag Trust, Vijay Bakaya on Durga Ashtami. The devotees were served with Prashad after Puranahuti of the Hawan and prayers were held for peace and prosperity of mankind.
The annual Maha Yagya of Ist Devi Bhargshikha Bhagwati was performed in the premises of Martand Suriya Bhawan Ploura here by Shri Martand Tirath Trust while in Martand Kashmir the festival was celebrated under the supervision of president of the Trust, A K Sidha and general secretary, T K Tickoo.
At Jammu the Maha Yagya was held under the supervision of vice president, Ram Ji Bawnoo and publicity secretary, Hari Krishan Sidha. Large number of devotees thronged both the shrines and they were served prashad after Puranahuti.
Reports reaching here from different parts of the UT said that Mahanavmi was celebrated at Baderkali Handwara in North Kashmir district of Kupwara where large number of devotees visited on the occasion. The religious functions during nine days of Navratra were held at various temples in Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Reasi , Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban, Kishtwar and Doda districts and devotees also immersed Saakh in various rivers on the culmination of festival today.
