The protesters gathered at the Press Enclave, carrying placards and shouting slogans demanding justice. They alleged that successive governments had failed to act on what they described as a “fraudulent and manipulated” recruitment exercise that deprived deserving youth of employment opportunities.
“We have been on the streets again and again, yet nothing concrete has been done. For the last 12 years, we have been waiting for justice. Many of us have crossed the upper age limit and lost hope for any government employment,” a protester said.
The candidates recalled that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had earlier promised an inquiry and assured them that the guilty would be punished. “LG Sahib had promised us that action would follow. But months have passed, and we are still waiting for that promise,” another aspirant said.
According to the protesters, the recruitment process has remained under a cloud of allegations of list manipulation and favouritism since its inception. They claimed that ineligible candidates were accommodated through fraudulent means while genuine applicants were sidelined.
The aspirants urged the government to constitute an independent inquiry committee or hand the case over to an anti-corruption agency.
