SRINAGAR, Oct 3: The J&K Medical Council (JKMC) has digitised the application process for the Compulsory Rotatory Medical Internship (CRMI), making it mandatory for Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) to apply online instead of submitting forms manually.
Officials said the process for submission of CRMI applications for Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) has now been shifted online, and all candidates are required to visit JKMC’s website to complete the formalities.
“All eligible candidates desirous of applying are required to visit the official website of the Jammu & Kashmir Medical Council at [https://jkmedicalcouncil.in] to fill in the application form and upload the requisite documents,” officials said.
In this regard, the JKMC has also issued a notification, informing candidates-particularly FMGs who have qualified the necessary exam of the National Board of Examinations (NBE)-about the change in the application process.
“It is for the information of all FMGs, who have obtained their MBBS degree from National Medical Commission (NMC) recognized foreign medical institutions and have qualified the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) conducted by the NBE, that they are eligible to undergo CRMI in the medical colleges of Jammu & Kashmir,” reads the notification issued by Dr. Sandrup Dogra, Registrar & Secretary, JKMC.
Dr. Muhammad Salim Khan, President of the JKMC, told Excelsior that earlier the process was carried out manually. However, he said the decision to make it online was taken to make it “smooth and hassle-free.”
“The decision to make it online has been taken to do away with the hassles faced by the candidates and streamline the entire process,” he said. The Council further announced the timelines for the application process, as per which the acceptance of application forms will begin from October 20, 5 pm.
Physical verification of requisite documents by applicants at Council offices in Jammu/Srinagar, after getting a prior appointment, will take place between October 21 and October 22, up to 5 pm, JKMC said.
