BCCI president receives grand homecoming reception

JAMMU, Oct 4: The City of Temples erupted in jubilation today as Mithun Manhas, the illustrious son of the soil and newly appointed President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), received a rousing and emotional homecoming on his maiden visit to Jammu after his historic elevation at the BCCI Annual General Meeting on September 28, 2025.
A wave of excitement swept through the city as members of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), budding cricketers, and enthusiastic fans thronged Jammu Airport to greet the charismatic leader. The atmosphere was festive with chants, cheers, and petals showered on Manhas, who was adorned with garlands and bouquets.
A long cavalcade of vehicles decorated with JKCA flags escorted him from the airport to the JKCA Headquarters at Hostel Ground. At his alma mater, GGM Science College, faculty and students extended a warm felicitation, expressing pride in his remarkable achievement.
At the JKCA Hostel Ground, Brig Anil Gupta, Member Administration JKCA, and Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi, Member Legal Affairs JKCA, formally welcomed the BCCI President. Brig Gupta described the moment as “a monumental pride for Jammu and the entire Union Territory,” praising Manhas as “a man of unmatched dedication and leadership.” Sunil Sethi added that his leadership represents “a new dawn for Indian cricket, defined by integrity and inclusiveness.”
Manhas, overwhelmed by the warmth and affection, expressed deep gratitude to the people of Jammu, reaffirming his commitment to nurture cricketing talent across every corner of India, with a special focus on the growth of the sport in Jammu and Kashmir.
