SRINAGAR, Oct 5: Following allegations that expired Dextrose Normal Saline (DNS) was administered to a patient at District Hospital Pulwama, the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK) today assured strict action against those found negligent.
Officials said the DHSK has taken serious cognisance of a viral video on social media claiming that expired DNS was given to a patient at the hospital.
“An immediate, thorough, and time-bound inquiry has been initiated to ascertain the facts and identify those responsible,” officials said.
The Directorate emphasized that the investigation will be carried out in a fair, transparent, and time-bound manner, strictly in accordance with established procedures and legal frameworks.
“Such acts are completely unacceptable and go against the values and standards that the Department upholds. Stringent disciplinary action will be taken against all those found negligent in their duties,” DHSK said, stressing its zero-tolerance policy towards any form of misconduct or negligence.
“Steps are also being taken to review existing protocols and strengthen preventive mechanisms to ensure that any such incidents do not recur in the future,” it added.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Basharat Qayoom had ordered an inquiry following the circulation of the video alleging the use of expired DNS at the hospital.
The DC had stated that the salary of the employee in charge of the concerned section was withheld pending the outcome of the probe.
Simultaneously, the Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Pulwama directed an immediate internal inquiry and sought a detailed report.
The viral video, widely shared on social media, claimed that a patient was administered expired DNS carrying an expiry date of May 2025.
The clip triggered concern across south Kashmir, prompting hospital authorities to verify the claims.
