SRINAGAR, Oct 5: Jammu & Kashmir is set to become the center of national sporting attention as Srinagar hosts the 69th National School Games for Football (U-19 Boys), starting October 6 at TRC Football Ground. The announcement was made by Anuradha Gupta, Director General, Youth Services and Sports (YSS), during a press conference at Youth Hostel, Wazir Bagh.
Gupta, joined by senior officials Mohammad Rashid Kohli, Joint Director Kashmir; Vinakshi Kaul, Joint Director Jammu; Mega Bogia, Deputy Director (Activities & Planning); Sunil Kotwal, Accounts Officer; and Azhar Hajini, Convenor, Media & Publicity Committee. She highlighted the extensive preparations to welcome 30 teams from across India. Matches will be held across six venues, showcasing J&K’s sporting infrastructure and commitment to youth engagement.
Gupta also announced upcoming National School Games events in Wushu, Taekwondo and Table Tennis, further cementing J&K’s role on the national sports map.
A major highlight was the launch of the department’s official podcast, “Khel Khel Mein”, hosted by Azhar Hajini. The podcast will feature stories of athletes, coaches and grassroots champions, aiming to inspire the next generation. Available social networking sites, it reflects the department’s push for digital outreach.
Reinforcing the “Sports for All, Fitness for All” mission, Gupta called for collective participation from youth groups and civil society. With strong logistical planning and a digital-first approach, J&K is poised to deliver a world-class experience while nurturing the sporting stars of tomorrow.
