JAMMU: All Government and Private Schools across the Jammu Division will remain closed on October 6 and 7, 2025, following a heavy rainfall alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff, amid a forecast of 48 hours of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the region.

“In view of the weather advisory issued by the Indian Meteorological Department predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in various parts of Jammu Division, and in order to ensure the safety and security of students and staff, it is ordered that all Government and Private Schools across Jammu Division shall remain closed on October 6 and 7, 2025,” reads an order issued by Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, Director School Education Jammu.
The IMD has alerted several districts in the Jammu division, warning that heavy rainfall, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds could disrupt normal life. Due to western disturbances, heavy to very heavy rainfall in predicted, along with strong winds possibily reaching 60-70 km/h in gust. Weather is expected to be cloudy with intermittent rain, thunderstorms and wind activity especiall overnight in the early morning hours, like it did during wee hours of Sunday, causing intermittent power disruption in parts of Jammu.
The administration has urged citizens to stay updated with weather bulletins and take necessary precautions during this period.
