JAMMU, Oct 6: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Jammu, commenced the Inter-District UT Level Swimming Competition for boys under the All Age Groups (AAG) category at IDPS Chowadhi, here today.
Around 60 young swimmers from various districts of J&K Union Territory participated in the competition, which aims to identify and nurture talent for future tournaments. Medals and certificates were awarded to the winners and runners-up. The event was conducted by departmental experts including Rajesh Sambyal, Gurpreet Singh, Harjot Kour, Vijinderpal Kour, Mousmi Verma, Anil Shan, Hardav Singh, Rajesh Bandral, Gurbachan Singh, Amolak Singh and other technical officials.
In the Under-14 Boys category, Aryan Prabhakar of Jammu secured first position in the 50m freestyle with a timing of 29.30 seconds, followed by Ayansh of Jammu and Mehansh Mushtaq of Srinagar. Rajvardhar Singh and Vivaan Yadav from Jammu bagged the top two spots in the 100m freestyle, while Praghay of Jammu emerged winner in the 200m freestyle event. In the Under-17 category, Muner Ali of Srinagar topped the 100m breaststroke, while Vihaan Goel from Jammu won the 200m freestyle. Mura Pariviz (Jammu) was adjudged first in the 100m freestyle. The Under-19 category witnessed Junaid from Srinagar winning the 100m breaststroke and Jaivardhan Singh of Jammu clinching the 100m freestyle title. Raghav Singh of Jammu topped the 200m freestyle event. The competition provided a vital platform for young swimmers to showcase their talent and compete at higher levels.
