ACB books Naib Tehsildar in DA case

JAMMU, Oct 8: Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against Surjit Singh, Naib Tehsildar (Election) posted at the Deputy District Election Office, Rajouri, for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The case followed a detailed verification by the Bureau into allegations of Singh accumulating wealth beyond his legitimate earnings. The inquiry revealed that the officer owned substantial assets in his own name as well as in the names of his family members, which were found to be grossly disproportionate to his income.

According to the ACB, Singh owns a double-storey house in district Ramban, along with huge bank balances, fixed deposits, LIC policies, a Swift car, luxurious household items, costly electronic gadgets and gold jewellery. The value of these assets and related expenditures were found to exceed his known income by a significant margin.
A case under FIR Number 05/2025 under Section 5(1)(e) read with 5(2) of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, Svt. 2006, has been registered at Police Station ACB Doda. During the course of investigation, the Bureau obtained search warrants from the Court of the Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Doda, and conducted searches at his residential houses at Maitra (Ramban), Janipur (Jammu), and his official quarter at DC Colony, Rajouri, in the presence of Magistrates and independent witnesses.
Further investigation is in progress, the ACB spokesperson said.
