SRINAGAR, Oct 8: J&K has achieved a milestone in its journey toward digital healthcare, with the creation of over 1.04 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHAs) under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
According to official data, the Union Territory has created 1,04,88,343 ABHAs so far, reflecting rapid progress in integrating health services with digital platforms.
J&K is also among the top four states and UTs across the country in the use of the ‘Scan & Share’ service.
In the month of September alone, more than 7.5 lakh ABHA cards were generated, officials said.
Launched nationally by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2021 and formally rolled out in J&K in July 2022, the ABDM aims to establish a comprehensive digital backbone for India’s healthcare infrastructure, connecting stakeholders across the system through secure and interoperable digital networks.
Officials said that under the leadership of Secretary Health, Abid Rasheed Shah, and Mission Director ABDM, Anant Dwivedi, J&K has made significant headway in adopting the digital framework.
The UT has achieved 100% registration of public and private health professionals (HPR) and health facilities (HFR), positioning itself among the top performers in the country, according to officials.
J&K also figures among the top four states and UTs in the country in the use of the ‘Scan & Share’ service, which enables patients to generate digital OPD tokens by scanning a QR code at hospitals.
“So far, a total of 82,44,619 digital tokens have been generated under this service.”
The UT’s achievements were recently recognized at the Arogya Manthan Awards in New Delhi, where J&K was honored for its exemplary implementation of digital health initiatives.
Officials said that the ABDM is also enabling patients to book OPD slots from home via the ABHA app or the website abdmjk.in, reducing hospital queues and improving efficiency.
Moreover, doctors are now creating Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) that patients can access through their Personal Health Record (PHR) app.
“To date, over 90,44,810 digital health records have been linked with citizens’ ABHA IDs,” officials said.
Officials noted that with these advances, J&K continues to strengthen its position as one of India’s frontrunners in building a digitally integrated and patient-friendly healthcare system.
