Terror accused gets life imprisonment for killing Sarpanch

DODA, Oct 8: The Court of Principal and Sessions Judge Bhaderwah here today convicted a terror accused and sentenced him for life imprisonment.
The terror accused Irfan Ali, son of Shafqat Ali, resident of Kilhotran, Tehsil Gandoh, was facing charges for offences punishable under Sections 302/34 of Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) and Section 7/27 of the Arms Act.
The case originated from an FIR No. 57/2002, registered at Police Station Gandoh on July 4, 2002, following the cold-blooded murder of the Sarpanch Sher Mohd, resident of Changa Gandoh, by the accused and his associates affiliated with a terrorist outfit. After committing the gruesome murder, the accused fled the scene.
A comprehensive investigation, led by the then SHO Police Station Gandoh, culminated in the filing of a Challan before the Court of Principal Sessions Judge, Bhaderwah, on May 28, 2019. The accused had remained in judicial custody since 2019.
After an extensive trial spanning over six years, the Sessions Court, Bhaderwah, today found the accused guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment for his barbaric act.
The prosecution of the case was effectively conducted by K.K Bandral, Chief Prosecuting Officer, Bhaderwah.
