JAMMU, Oct 11: Young sensation Arihant Sharma lit up the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium B, Lucknow, with a scintillating century that powered J&K to a memorable 2-wicket victory over Tamil Nadu in the ongoing Men’s U-19 Vinoo Mankad Cricket Tournament.
Chasing a challenging total of 253, J&K showcased remarkable composure to cross the finish line in 49 overs, losing 8 wickets en-route a thrilling win. The hero of the day was undeniably Arihant Sharma, whose breathtaking 105-run knock off just 104 balls turned the game on its head. His innings was decorated with 8 exquisite boundaries and 5 towering sixes.
Supporting acts came from Salman Ahmad Bakshi (34), Kamaksh Sharma (27), Shiva Thakur (21) and Zaid Ahmad (18).
Tamil Nadu’s bowling attack, led by Alfred Jacob’s spirited 3-wicket haul, fought hard to maintain pressure, while BK Kishore, Sanjay K and Benny Hinn chipped in with a wicket apiece but were denied by J&K’s batting response.
Earlier, Tamil Nadu posted a competitive 253 runs in 49.2 overs, with opener Vineeth VK stealing the show through a classy 94 off 106 balls.
Bharath M’s fluent 48 off 43 balls further bolstered the innings, while contributions from Raj Jamie Walsh (26) and P Kush Bardia (20) added depth to the total.
J&K’s bowlers displayed disciplined teamwork, with Captain Dhruv Sharma and Zaid Ahmed scalping two wickets each. Solib Tariq, Salman Ashraf Dar and Sidharth Jamwal took one apiece, ensuring Tamil Nadu’s late push never gained full momentum.
