SAMBA, Oct 11: The Samba District Weightlifting Championship 2025-26 concluded at Indoor Sports Complex, here today.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 35 athletes, both men and women, representing different parts of the district.
The opening ceremony was inaugurated by Dharamvir Singh Chib (DySSO, Samba) while the closing ceremony was graced by Puran Chand, Chairman, Samba Municipality as chief guest and he distributed medals and certificates among the winners.
The event was also attended by several prominent dignitaries including Dalbir Mehta (Manager, Samba Sports Council), Inderpal Singh (Senior Coach), Harbhajan Singh (president, J&K Weightlifting Association), Jangbir Singh (general secretary, Samba District Weightlifting Association), Captain Kulbir Singh (president, Samba Weightlifting Association), Bharti Devi (Technical Official), Harish Sharma (Technical Official), Amit Sharma, Dhanraj Singh, Manjeet Singh, Abhishek, Dileep Singh, Naman Singh (Weightlifting Coach) and other technical officials.
The welcome address was delivered by Harbhajan Singh, president, J&K Weightlifting Association while the vote of thanks was presented by Yudhvir Singh, general secretary, J&K Weightlifting Association.
The winners in the competition in boys category, 56 kg were Bharat Singh, Sachin Singh, Manav Sambyal; in 60 kg the winners were Sukhdev Singh, Naresh Singh, Mohammad Iqbal; in 71 kg the winners were Sujal Singh, Arush Chatiyal, Naser; in 79 kg the winners were Krish Verma, Ankush Kapoor, Laksh Singh; in 88 kg, the winners were Rythm Salathia, Kumar Missi; in 94 kg, the winners were Vaibhav Sharma, Ansh Pangotra, Krish Saini; in 110 kg (Senior) the winners were, Nirantar Sambyal; in 110 kg (Junior), the winners were Maseem Choudhary.
In girls, for 44 kg category, the winners were Divyanshi Sharma; in 48 kg the winners were Samiksha Dubey, Jiya Jaiswal, Monika Jasrotia, in 69 kg the winners were Ridhima Jasrotia, Pritima Sambyal, in 77 kg the winners were Gurpreet Kour and in +77 kg, the winner was Liza.
