Jammu Kurash C’ship concludes

JAMMU, Oct 11: The District Jammu Kurash Championship concluded at Bhagwati Nagar Indoor Stadium with resounding success after two days of thrilling competition. The event witnessed the participation of around 294 players from various schools and clubs, highlighting the growing popularity of Kurash among the youth. Dr. Rajeev Bhagat, MLA Bishnah was the chief guest and Keshav Chopra, Chairman, Samvedna Society, was the guest of honour. The duo distributed medals and trophies to the winners and encouraged players to continue their sporting journeys.
Shangrilla School clinched the Winner’s Trophy, followed by Kendriya Vidyalaya Bantalab in second place and Sarvodaya Public School in third. The Disciplinary Trophy went to Eagle Academy of Martial Arts. In girls’ events, gold medallists included Mukanda (22kg), Disha Bazaz (38kg), Jazleen (30kg), Aadhya (26kg), Vanshika Bhau (30kg), Kavya (34kg), Ananya and Aaradhya (42kg, 50kg), Pihu (46kg), Divya (34kg), Srishti, Divyakshu, Dhanak Sethi, Kapila, Supriya, Urvashi, Muni, Pooja and Sonakshi across categories up to U-19. Boys’ gold winners included Danish, Dherya, Agham, Hemant, Rajveer, Rudar, Ishu, Madhav, Ishant, Anirudh, Naresh, Vikrant, Javed, Sidharth, Natik, Rishav, Rahul, Krish, Mayank, Ronak, Soham, Tanish, Mehtab, Dikshant, Neeraj, Rudhar and Sunish in respective weight divisions from mini sub-juniors to U-19.
Rajneesh Gupta, General Secretary of The Amateur Kurash Association of J&K, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging all contributors to the event’s success and promising sustained efforts for the development of Kurash at the grassroots level in Jammu and Kashmir.
