BJP holds workshop to finalize programmes for Sardar Patel Jayanti celebrations, unity march

JAMMU, Oct 15: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu & Kashmir, conducted a comprehensive workshop at the party Headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, here, today to finalize preparations for the celebrations marking the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.
The workshop focused on the Unity March (Ekta Yatra) and a series of nation-wide programmes honouring Sardar Patel’s enduring legacy of national integration.
The BJP vice-president and DDC Chairperson, Bharat Bhushan chaired the workshop. BJP vice-presidents Rajiv Charak, general secretaries, Sanjita Dogra, Baldev Singh Billawaria (J&K convenor of the whole programme), and Gopal Mahajan, BJYM president, Arun Prabhat, Lovedeval Sharma, were also on the dais.
The workshop was attended by district presidents and the programme convenors and co-convenors besides the State office bearers of the BJP from the region.
Bharat Bhushan called upon party functionaries to ensure maximum public participation in the grand national initiative. He said that Sardar Patel’s life is a living inspiration of unity and integrity. Every activist must reach out to the youth, institutions, and local communities so that his ideals echo across every village and district of J&K, he added.
Rajiv Charak emphasized that the second phase of the campaign from October 31 to November 25 would include district-level workshops, Padyatras, and public outreach programmes. He asked the cadre to ensure that every household joins in celebrating Patel’s vision of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
Conducting the proceedings, Sanjita Dogra underlined the spirit of inclusivity that defines the celebration. She said that the tribute to Sardar Patel must not just be ceremonial but participatory, involving youth, students, and volunteers through MY Bharat App registrations across categories.
Baldev Singh Billawaria highlighted the Unity March (Padyatra) as the core of the celebrations. He informed that the historic 152.9 km national Padyatra, scheduled from 26th November to 6th December will proceed from Karamsad (Patel’s birthplace) to the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, with participation of selected representatives from J&K.
Extending the vote of thanks, Gopal Mahajan reiterated BJP’s commitment to celebrating Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in every corner of the Union Territory.
