JAMMU, Oct 17: The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered the immediate constitution of a ‘Civil Defence Corps’ in seven districts across the Union Territory.
As per a notification issued by the Home Department, the corps will be established in the districts of Reasi, Ramban, Kishtwar, Shopian, Ganderbal, Bandipora, and Kulgam.
In a key directive under the Civil Defence Act of 1968, the government has further assigned the responsibility of Controller to the respective District Magistrates to command the new corps within their jurisdictions, effectively bolstering the civil defence structure at the local level.
