JAMMU, Oct 16: Rotary Club (RC) Bombay in collaboration with RC Jammu Tawi and RC Jammu Baahu (District 3070), distributed essential aid to the flash flood hit people of village Channi Rama and also conducted health awareness sessions.
The programme was supported by Gracious Givers and MHSF and was presided over by the chief guest, Vikram Randhawa, MLA.
The relief including blankets, mattresses, stationery for children, earthen lamps and confectionery items were provided to more than 200 families.
Earlier President RC Jammu Baahu, Dr. Navneet Kaur delivered welcome address. Presidents of the collaborating Clubs, Dr. Shivani (RC Jammu Tawi) and Dr. Navneet Kaur (RC Jammu Baahu) took a proactive step in community health by conducting counselling sessions for women and girls.
They delivered informative talk on menstrual health, hygiene and the goals of the Anaemia Mukt Bharat campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, PGD Dr. Dushyant Choudhary highlighted the unwavering commitment of Rotary International during disasters and natural calamities.
The chief guest, Vikram Randhawa, personally distributed blankets and other relief materials to the affected families.
Adding a symbolic gesture of light and sweetness to the relief efforts, Dr. Nidhi Gupta, along with a team from Gracious Givers and Rotary volunteers, lit earthen lamps in the homes of the residents and distributed sweets, fostering a sense of warmth and celebration amid adversity.
Rotarian Ashok Gupta lauded the entire team for their voluntary services.
Senior Rtn Adeep Mehta cheered the volunteers for their contributions to the underprivileged.
Ex-Councillor Kamal Singh was coordinator of the relief distribution camp.
