LG Kavinder Gupta launches REWA 2.0 Scheme

LEH: The REWA 2.0 Financial Assistance Scheme was officially launched on Saturday at the LG Secretariat, Leh, marking a major milestone in the Union Territory of Ladakh’s efforts to empower meritorious yet economically disadvantaged youth. The scheme aims to provide quality UPSC Civil Services coaching to 80 deserving candidates-40 each from Leh and Kargil-including one seat per district reserved for persons with disabilities.

Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, while launching the scheme, highlighted its significance in ensuring equitable access to top-tier education and opportunities. He stated, “REWA 2.0 reflects the Administration’s commitment to nurturing local talent and ensuring that no deserving student is held back due to financial constraints. This initiative will provide a level playing field for the youth of Ladakh in pursuing careers in civil services.”
The scheme will offer financial assistance of Rs 1.18 lakh per candidate for six months, covering both coaching and accommodation expenses. Candidates aged between 21 and 36 years can enroll in a UPSC coaching institute of their choice anywhere in the country, with the condition that they must appear in the upcoming UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination.
The Lt Governor commended Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education, Bhanu Prabha, and her team for conceptualizing and executing what he called a “visionary and inclusive initiative.” He urged youth to seize this opportunity with determination and strive for excellence.
Earlier, Bhanu Prabha emphasized that REWA 2.0 is designed to remove economic barriers and support serious aspirants in their journey to serve the nation. She encouraged eligible candidates to apply and prepare with full dedication.
The launch of REWA 2.0 underlines the Ladakh Administration’s focus on empowerment, inclusive development, and merit-based opportunities for all.
