JAMMU, Oct 19: Doon International School Jammu hosted the DOON CUP 2025, a five-day inter-school sports tournament that brought together over 1000 student-athletes from 26 leading CBSE schools across Jammu. The event featured exciting competitions in Cricket, Football and Basketball, promoting athleticism, camaraderie and sportsmanship among young talents.
The grand opening ceremony was graced by Padma Shri Faisal Ali Dar, India’s first martial artist to receive the prestigious civilian honour, who joined as the chief guest. The celebration began with a heartfelt teachers’ welcome song, followed by a torch-lighting ceremony and the symbolic release of balloons and pigeons, representing unity, peace, and aspiration.
Distinguished dignitaries present at the event included Chairman G.N. Tantray, Vice Chairman M.A. Tantray, Principal Dr. Vikesh Kaur, Directors Ehsaan Ul Nabi and Leesan Ul Nabi, Vice Principal Dr. Sarita Moza Koul, Headmistress Shivali Singh Pathania, and chief coordinator Surinder Singh. They appreciated the enthusiastic participation and encouraged students to embody true sportsmanship.
The final day featured thrilling matches. Doon International School Jammu claimed the Football championship, while Sainik School Nagrota won in Basketball, with Doon finishing as runners-up. KC International School triumphed in Cricket. With one championship win and one runner-up position, Doon International School Jammu was declared the Overall Champion of DOON CUP 2025.
The closing ceremony was graced by Ranjeet Kalra, Member of the Governing Council (Sports), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. The programme ended with a sincere Vote of Thanks by Dr. Sarita Moza Koul, recognizing the efforts of all participants, coaches and volunteers.
