Inayat dominates Srinagar Open with double title win

SRINAGAR, Oct 19: Inayat Jehangir dominated the Srinagar Open Tennis Championship 2025 by winning both the men’s singles and doubles titles at the Gindun Sports Complex.
Jehangir retained his singles crown with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 victory over Mir Jameel in a final that lasted just over 100 minutes. He then partnered with Dilbagh Singh to win the doubles title, defeating Mir Jameel and Danish Shah. Earlier this year, Jehangir had also won the UT-level veterans doubles tournament in Jammu.
In the junior categories, Zainab Wani claimed the Girls U-10 title, defeating Aizah Owaisi, while Mohammad Qais triumphed in the Boys U-16 category against Simratjit Singh.
With 40 participants and over 50 matches, the championship showcased growing tennis talent in the region. Organised by the District Lawn Tennis Association in collaboration with the J&K Lawn Tennis Association, the event has become a key fixture in Kashmir’s tennis calendar.
Gurmit Singh, General Secretary of DLTA Srinagar, thanked Secretary Sports Council Nuzhat Gul for her continued support and appealed for timely completion of ongoing infrastructure works at Gindun courts.
